§ 21 StVG requires at least 2 checks per year (every 6 months) for commercial passenger transport. Recommendation: schedule the rhythm in the calendar, not by feel.

§ 21 StVG (this German law says you must check your drivers' licenses on a regular basis) requires a check at least every six months. With 3 drivers, that's little work. With 15 drivers, it becomes a real task. This calculator shows what you need to plan.

How the calculator works

You type in: number of drivers. Check interval in months. Under § 21 StVG, at least every 6 months. And the time per check. 10 minutes is a good number. That's showing, checking, documenting. The calculator shows you: checks per year. Average per month. Hours per year. So you see if you need a fixed appointment. Or if spot checks are enough.

What Fahrly does for you

The calculator says how often. Fahrly's Compliance module (the Konzession overview) says when and who. For every driver, the date of the last check is saved. The next date is calculated automatically. And written to your calendar. 30 days before it's due, the driver gets a reminder in their app. You get an email. At the check itself, Fahrly logs the date, result and the checker. During a BOKraft inspection or an Ordnungsamt visit, you export the full history with one click.

One calendar per business. All checks on it. Provable at every inspection.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

What does § 21 StVG require?

Owners of Mietwagen or taxis must check their drivers on a regular basis. Usually every 6 months. You must see that they hold a valid license. The check has to be documented. At a BOKraft or Ordnungsamt inspection, the docs must be ready.

What does a valid check look like?

The driver shows their current license. You check: is it still valid? Is the class still there? For the P-Schein (the permit that lets a driver carry passengers), check its validity too. You document date, checker and result. A written note is usually enough.

What happens if the check is missing?

Fines up to 200 euros per case. If it repeats, or if a driver drove without a valid license, you can lose your Konzession (your permit to run a Mietwagen business). Without documentation, the owner is co-liable in an accident. The insurance can seek recourse.
